Project Overview

Creating a cross user communication app that is meant to go beyond office usability, and sync into the omnitude of the user’s needs.

Cross communication programs are usually designated for office related uses. Extending beyond the sterile communication style, Plan Perfect is an all-inclusive communication and management app that empowers users to collaborate effectively in both professional and personal realms. With its versatile features, user-friendly design, and commitment to continuous improvement, "Plan Perfect" aims to become the go-to platform for teams, friends, and individuals seeking a streamlined and holistic approach to collaboration and event planning.

Problem

Existing communication platforms cater to either work or social needs, leaving users with fragmented solutions for collaboration and planning. There lacks a versatile app that seamlessly handles communication, event planning with friends, and personal project management. This creates disorganization, missed opportunities, and limited collaboration. "Plan Perfect" aims to bridge this gap by offering a comprehensive solution that combines workplace and personal life organization

RESEARCH

In a survey of 5 in person interviews and 23 Maze applicants we discovered the following insights...

SWOTAnalysis

IDEATE

Using data from my surveys, interviews, and affinity map, personas were created. This allowed me to further empathized with user groups and prioritized the design process according to users needs.

UserPersonas

UserFlow

Task Flow 1 Sign-up and Sync Contacts

After signing up the user will have the option to sync their contact list for better usability

Task Flow 2 Create a Project

From the “Home Page” the user can now create projects and invite other users from their contact list to join in on the project or event. Each project will be color coded for better organiz

Task Flow 3 Create Task for a project

After a project has been created the user can now create and assign tasks within the project for the steps needed to complete the project

DESIGN

I first expanded on my design with lo-fi wireframes by adding more screens as appropriate, according to the logic of my user flows. I also added more detail to the screens in order to prepare for testing with users.

Initial exploration – Lofi Wireframes

Final – Hifi Wireframes

TESTING

I led a total of five remote and moderated usability tests using Zoom. During each test, I gave participants three scenario tasks to complete using the application:

  1. Create new account
  2. Invite others to a existing project
  3. Creating a new project

1. Creating new account - Success Rate: 100%
This task was pretty evident and self explanatory. The only caveat being the contact sync list. Although all ttest subjects figured it out in a few seconds.A few of the users commenting on the color difference not being opaque enough for certain users with hard vision or color blindness

2.Invite others to a existing project - Success Rate: 100%
Given that it was a moderated usability study, and I answered any questions the user had, they mentioned that it seems obvious. I didn’t guide any of the users, but all the users seem to innately understand the flow of the app

3.Creating a new project - Success Rate: 100%
All the users completed this task with the least amount of effort and time.

REFLECTION

Through this journey, I've learned that simplicity is the key to making technology truly useful. We set out to create a tool that doesn't overwhelm with features but rather simplifies the way we communicate, plan, and organize. The blend of AI and third-party integrations wasn't just about being trendy; it was about making the app adapt to users, understanding their preferences, and making things smoother.

But it's not all smooth sailing. The world of tech is a bustling sea of competition, and making "Plan Perfect" stand out was a challenge. In a landscape already populated with giants, finding our unique voice and showing why we matter took creativity and tenacity. Ensuring privacy and security was another vital lesson.

Perhaps the most human lesson I've learned is that change can be both exciting and daunting. Convincing someone to shift from their old ways to something new isn't just about features; it's about showing them how this change can simplify their life and bring value. The path forward involves staying attuned to the shifting winds of technology trends, meeting users where they are, and adapting the app to fit their evolving needs.

As I look back on this journey, I see not just an app but a story of connection, adaptation, and making life a bit smoother. It's a reminder that technology, at its heart, is about people – their struggles, their aspirations, and their desire to stay connected in a fast-paced world. And with "Plan Perfect," I've learned that creating technology with a human touch can truly make a difference.
